What is Precision sheet metal fabrication

sheet metal fabrication includes a series of processes such as Laser Cutting, Punching, and Bending and molding. By means of stamping, bending, and stretching, various shapes of parts can be processed. Sheet metal fabrication for aerospace industry, sheet metal fabrication for automotive industry and sheet metal fabrication for construction projects are essential applications, ensuring high-quality components for various sectors.

Selection of sheet metal processing materials

Sheet metal fabrication will use different materials such as cold rolled sheet, hot rolled sheet, galvanized sheet, copper sheet, aluminum and stainless steel depending on the use and cost of the product. Various materials have their specific advantages and applicable scenarios.

·Cold-rolled sheet(SPCC):Low cost, easy to mold, suitable for plating and baking paint.

·Hot-rolled sheet(SHCC):Low cost, difficult to mold, suitable for plating and baking paint.

·Galvanized sheet: No surface treatment required, easy to form, higher cost.

·Copper: High cost, easy to mold, suitable for nickel plating, chrome plating and other surface treatment.

·Aluminum plate: High cost, easy to form, can be anodized and other surface treatments.

·Stainless steel: High cost, easy to mold, can be painted and other surface treatment.

The main process of sheetmetal fabrication

Undercutting: Undercutting usually we can use punching and laser cutting, and then according to the thickness of the product and the diameter of the hole and other aspects to determine the processing method, these two processing methods have cutting speed, processing flexibility and other characteristics.

Bending: We will unfold the bending plan according to the graphic bending radius of the parts, and then generate the bending line for bending, bending need to pay attention to the shape of the tensile force can not exceed the material limit, otherwise it will produce a fracture, commonly suitable for bending materials are iron, stainless steel, aluminum and copper!

Stretching: Stretch molding process we need to make stamping die will be flat stamping molding, stretching process can be made into a variety of irregularly shaped thin-walled parts, stretching process will produce changes in wall thickness.

Welding: In sheet metal processing we often need to weld to realize the connection or reinforcement of the parts, we will choose the welding method according to the actual requirements and materials, commonly used welding arc welding, laser welding and so on.

Surface treatment: In order to improve the surface effect and protection of sheet metal parts, we will clean up the oil, welding slag, etc. before surface treatment, and then according to the customer's demand for parts surface drawing, electroplating, powder coating, zinc plating, anodizing, silk screen printing, etc.

Sheet Metal Fabrication Common Problem Analysis

Sheet metal fabrication is widely used in mechanical, automotive, aerospace and medical industries. There are many common problems in different types of sheet metal fabrication processes, you can see how we solve these problems.

Sheet Metal Cutting Common Problems and Solutions

It is common to have sharp burrs on the edges, collapsed edges or curved edges in the sheet metal cutting process. We usually do not use materials with edges, and if there are sharp burrs on the cut out, we will use some sanding tools to remove the burrs and then proceed to sheet metal molding.

Sheet Metal Stamping Common Problems and Solutions

When the sheet metal exceeds the processing limit under the stamping force of the die, the sheet metal will have defects such as cracks, rebound and deformation, and we usually over-bend or over-compensate to adjust to improve these problems.

Sheet metal bending common problems and solutions

In the bending process due to the choice of poor flexibility or bending radius is very small, etc. will appear cracks, fractures, we need to choose a flexible material to replace and adjust the bending radius.

Sheet Metal Welding Common Problems and Solutions

The most common problems in welded parts are welding slag, porosity, cracks and other defects, we can ensure that they can be tightly bonded together by carefully cleaning, grinding and removing burrs from the edges of the sheet metal, etc., to make them stronger and more durable.
